Not long to go before the annual conference of France's EUATC founding member Chambre Nationale des Entreprises de Traduction (CNET).

'A great place to work' is the theme of CNET's annual conference taking place in Paris on October 5th with a networking drinks reception the evening before. WISH YOU WERE HERE AND GIVING BACK ESTONIAN STYLE

Every language business wants to create the best team but finding ways to build the best spirit can often end up with staff members on an away-day paintballing each other, or everyone covered in mud tackling commando-style courses in remote rugged locations. "All that is so last year!" says Inge R?tsep, CEO of Estonian LSP Interlex Media &Translations based in Tallin.

"We looked at team building courses but found most traditional and rather boring. None made me want to spend thousands of Euro on any of them. As I have been a frequent traveller over the last decade, I thought that it might be a good idea to travel with whole team. So at one PM meeting I came out with the idea and surprisingly everybody agreed. So we started to look where to travel and chose Goa in India. For me it was an easy decision for me - I have been to India four times. So in November seven of us, Project Management staff and our senior in-house editor will be setting up an office in Goa. It is like a mix of reward for the good job my team has done and, on the other hand, a good opportunity to test us as the team. STAND BY FOR THE WORLD'S NEWEST LANGUAGE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION

In October the latest language industry association is scheduled to go live. The driving force behind the Confederation of Indian Translation & Localization Companies is Sandeep Nuklar, CEO of EUATC Network member, BITS India.

"We are very grateful for the support we have received from the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies for its generosity in sharing documentation, which we have localized and formed a section 8 company. This is the least complicated and flexible legal structure under Indian company law for a new association such as ours. GIRL POWER TEAM TAKE OVER AT THE ATC

Just over a year after EUATC founding members the Association of Translation Companies (ATC) lost the services of its long-serving General Secretary, Geoffrey Bowden, it has made the bold decision to appoint a part-time Chief Executive.

The appointment Raisa McNab coincides with the election Ruth Partington, standing on the right, as chair of the ATC. 

Ruth, the CEO of Bristol-based LSP RP Translate, which supplies translation services and insight to the global market research sector, explained the rationale behind the Chief Executive appointment to T-UPDATE. READ MORE
