The Melting Pot?
Worcester was treated to a real feast of delights on 27 and 28 September, as 'The Melting Pot' brought the city’s rich industrial history to life. This incredible event marked the culmination of an 18 month project that captured memories from Worcester’s diverse communities, weaving them together into a vibrant event of dance, music, storytelling, and visual arts.
Taking place across three floors, audiences were immersed in the sights, sounds, and even the smells of life on the factory floors at iconic sites like the Metal Box, Lea & Perrins, and Worcester Porcelain. From start to finish, this multi-sensory journey through Worcester’s industrial past left attendees mesmerised, making it an unforgettable celebration of our city’s heritage.
"Amazed at the variety of cultural backgrounds."
"It was an incredible experience and it changed my understanding of our city." Did you attend? Complete the survey below.

Three Counties Talent Hub – Stage writing competition?
Malvern Theatres and?Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham are collaborating to launch a new stage writing competition for writers working in the three counties (Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire).
The competition launches the?Three Counties Talent Hub (3CTH); an ambitious arts development programme based at Malvern Theatres that identifies, fosters, and gives a professional platform to creatives working in the three counties.?
For this inaugural project, all entries must have a significant ‘sense of place’ in relation to Malvern and/or Cheltenham, and the winning entry will be workshopped in Malvern, before being performed in both Malvern and Cheltenham.
In time, Malvern Theatres hopes to expand 3CTH to include other artistic genres.
Fred Moroni, Malvern Theatres Executive Director, said: “As well as providing a platform for local writers, this scheme will benefit the wider cultural industry."

Atchin Tan - Travelling Through Art?
??Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum?
??26 October – 5 January 2025?
Atchin Tan – Travelling Through Art is a visual journey through time of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities. Curated by the Art Gallery & Museum with members of the communities, the exhibition features artworks on loan from Tate by Turner, Gainsborough and Munnings, alongside newly commissioned works by Romani artists.?
Atchin Tan is the Romani phrase for Stopping Place. The exhibition has sprung from Museums Worcestershire’s Vardo Project which aims to build a contextualising archive for Worcestershire’s unique and rare collection of Vardoes (gypsy caravans). They are extremely significant to the county as the GRT community is historically Worcestershire’s largest ethnic minority and an integral part of the county’s culture and agricultural year.??
The exhibition includes oral histories and family photograph albums, illustrating how Romani identity has been portrayed through time. Traditional and handmade items for the exhibition will be on display in Crystal’s Vardo in the centre of the gallery.?
To celebrate the exhibition opening on Saturday 26 October, storyteller Richard O’Neill will be performing Colours of My Wagon at 11:00am, 12 noon, and 1:00pm (suitable for all ages) in the Art Gallery. The performances are free and everyone is welcome.?
