Introducing the Document Scanner RTU UI v.2.0

This month, we released version?2.0 of our Ready-to-Use UI components for the Document Scanner SDK. The revamped components make it even easier to integrate our scanning functionalities into your mobile app while providing a tried and true user experience.?

The RTU UI v.2.0 also comes come with several new features – most notably dedicated screens for scanning, reviewing, and editing documents.?

See the Updates section below for more details ??

Updates

iOS & Android

iOS:?Document Scanner Version 6.0.0

Android:?Document Scanner Version 6.0.0

?We've begun rolling out the Document Scanner RTU UI v.2.0, starting with our Native SDKs.?

The key change is that we have?separated the document scanning workflow into six individual screens, which you can freely enable and disable. Thanks to this, you can tailor your app’s scanning workflow to perfectly fit your use case – and make it even more user-friendly.?

The available screens are:

  1. Introduction Screen
  2. Scanning Screen
  3. Acknowledge Screen
  4. Review Screen
  5. Crop Screen
  6. Reorder Screen

Here is an overview of what these screens do, and some of their major configuration options.?

  1. Introduction Screen:?Display a tutorial to first-time app users to ensure they know exactly how to achieve perfect scanning results. You can freely adapt the screen’s text and also display a semi-transparent user guidance overlay after the user closes it.
  2. Scanning Screen:?The built-in visual guidance and feedback animations ensure users capture perfect scans every time. You can let them scan as many pages as needed or configure a number of expected pages.
  3. Acknowledge Screen:?Thanks to the SDK’s?Document Quality Analyzer, your users receive immediate feedback on their scans. You can set the threshold for an acceptable scan, and also configure when to show this screen.
  4. Review Screen:?This lets users easily make changes to their scanned document. They can zoom in to check a scan’s finer detail, add images from the device gallery as additional pages, and retake scans of specific pages. From here, they can also launch the crop and reorder screens.
  5. Crop Screen:?This is an intuitive interface for rotating a page and manually adjusting its cropping. You can also initialize this screen independently, even from other parts of your app.
  6. Reorder Screen:?Your users can easily change the order of the scanned pages using drag-and-drop. There is no need to recapture an entire document just because one page is out of sequence.?

?? For technical details on how to implement each screen in your app, please refer to our documentation for?Android?and?iOS.?

Please note:?As this release comes with many new features and advancements, it also includes some breaking changes.?

A note on our Cordova and Xamarin SDKs

With?.NET MAUI succeeding Xamarin?and an increasing number of Cordova components being deprecated and replaced by Capacitor alternatives, we're also winding down our development efforts for these two frameworks. Instead, our focus will be on our .NET MAUI and Capacitor SDKs.?

This also means that the RTU UI v.2.0 will not arrive on these platforms. We will continue to support Cordova and Xamarin, but our releases for these two platforms will focus on bug fixes and security updates instead of feature releases.?

If your app uses our Cordova or Xamarin SDKs, we recommend migrating to Capacitor and .NET MAUI respectively, so you can make use of the Scanbot?SDK's full feature set.?

Should you need any help with the migration, please get in touch with us via [email protected].
