Upcoming Digital Workshop?
We are thrilled to announce that PCSIG is partnering with the Pharmaceutical & BioScience Society International (PBSS) for an upcoming digital workshop on October 17th, 2024 from 8:30AM-12:50PM PT. The workshop, titled Patient-Centric Blood Sampling for Decentralized Clinical Trials, will explore how patient-centric sampling (PCS) is revolutionizing clinical trials.
What You’ll Learn: This half-day workshop will cover the application of PCS in decentralized trials through real-world case studies. PCS allows patients to collect blood samples at home, enhancing convenience and broadening trial access to rural and underserved communities. It also supports clinical studies with pediatric and vulnerable populations, potentially improving patient recruitment and retention.
Meet the Speakers:
Don’t miss this chance to learn about the future of clinical trials!
Upcoming Webinars
Join us on October 22, 2024, for a webinar exploring how patient-centric sampling can transform chemotherapy treatment by improving dosing precision and reducing side effects. This session will highlight True Dose’s innovative technology, which measures drug levels through self-sampling, offering a more personalized approach to treatment than traditional methods based on body surface area (BSA).
What You’ll Learn:
This webinar is ideal for clinical researchers, healthcare providers, and clinical trial professionals focused on personalized cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes. Whether you're involved in precision medicine, oncology, or trial design, this session will offer valuable insights into how patient-centric sampling can revolutionize chemotherapy dosing. Don’t miss the chance to explore the future of personalized treatment!
Join us on November 12, 2024, for a special session where the PCSIG Board will review the group’s 2024 achievements and outline exciting plans for the future. This event will cover key initiatives, including the creation of the PCSIG Patient and Sponsors Advisory Groups, workshops, webinars, and efforts to promote the widespread adoption of patient-centric sampling (PCS) in clinical trials.
What You’ll Learn:
This session is ideal for PCSIG members and anyone passionate about driving the implementation of patient-centric sampling in healthcare. Don’t miss the chance to learn more about the future of PCS and how you can contribute!

Mark your calendars for February 11th, 2024, in Liverpool, UK, for an exciting in-person symposium in collaboration with the Association of Laboratory Medicine. This event will focus on the evolving landscape of patient-centric sampling and explore critical topics including:
This is a fantastic opportunity to network with professionals in microsampling from across the country. Sponsorship opportunities are available—contact Neil Spooner at [email protected]. Stay tuned for registration details and booking information!
Working Group Projects:
Interested in collaboratively promoting PCS approaches for integration into standard of care? Jump into one of our five working groups to tackle ongoing projects! Please write to [email protected] if you would like to be involved. Check out the PCSIG Calendar for upcoming meetings.
Website: Explore the best ways to present PCSIG resources, including the new resources library. Meets every 2 weeks.
Devices: Lancets, buccal swabs, menstrual pads. The list goes on! Help us build the device table on the PCSIG website, which researchers access to find microsampling solutions for their studies. Meets monthly.?
Barriers: Our community voted on the major obstacles to their implementing PCS technologies. Among the top votes was, “Overcoming the reluctance to use PCS approaches.” Devise a strategy for this critically needed objective. Meets monthly.?
Webinar: Help plan the next PCSIG webinar, connecting stakeholders in microsampling & identifying information most needed by the community. Meets every 3 months.?
Diagnostics: This group focuses on developing materials and sharing best practice with a focus on the needs of those working in diagnostics laboratories who are interested in facilitating the adoption of PCS approaches in their area. We are currently prioritizing the projects to focus on. Please let us know if you would like to learn more and get involved.
Website Updates:
The new PCSIG webpage featuring a listing of the suppliers of swabs is now available. Please let us know if any changes, or additions are required. This builds on the pages we already have for blood samplers and lancets. Thank you to Tamara Tomandl for her hard work in leading this update!
Additionally, following the successful PCSIG Workshop in June 2024 "Incorporating Patient Centric Sampling into Multicentre Clinical Trials", we have produced a number of materials to help overcome the barriers to adoption of PCS approaches for decentralised clinical trials. We have also recently uploaded the highlights of the workshop shared during the PCSIG webinar on 2nd October 2024.?
Updates from Neil:
Hello PCSIG Members and welcome to our Newsletter for October 2024 :-)
It's been another busy period for the group and I would like to thank all of those involved for keeping the momentum going through the recent holiday period for most of us. I would also very much like to thank Sengathir Rajagopal for picking up the reins for production of this Newsletter.
I am very happy that the output from our recent workshop "Incorporating PCS into Multicentre Clinical Trials" is now available on the PCSIG website and has also been summarised in our recent webinar on 2nd October 2024.? We have also been asking you to vote on what activities we should be focusing on next in this area and inviting you to get involved - watch this space for updates.
The PCSIG Diagnostics Working Group is currently prioritising its next activities, to build on the publication they are working on and the technology listings on our website.? A big thank you to Joleen White and Melanie Anderson for their wonderful past leadership of the group and to Jayson Pagaduan for taking over as co-leader.? Please let us know if you wish to contribute to the activities of this important group.
Another significant event since the last Newsletter was the first meeting of the PCSIG Patients Advisory Group. This conversation with 7 patients was outstanding. We learned a lot and will be sharing the output with the PCSIG community soon. A huge thank-you to Jenny Royle and Natalie Swiderska of MediPaCe for facilitating this first of many engagements to listen to and learn from patients.
Thank-you for contributing to our wonderful community,
