When it comes to effective marketing strategies, asking the right questions is half the battle — the other half is getting to the right answers.

One of the big questions, and subsequent answers, we work with a lot at Zartico is this: What can I do to fill my hotel rooms, restaurants, shops, and attractions during a slow shoulder season?

We’ve seen it all. Common approaches include hotel promotions or one-off community events. But without a lot of strategic support, these tactics often fall short.

What works instead is a carefully planned, strategically executed integrated marketing campaign, says Zartico Co-Founder Jay Kinghorn.

  1. Start with your “why.” Discover who visits outside of peak season, then ask why.
  2. Dig into the deeper reasons these people visit during your need period.
  3. Locate the ideal visitor for this activity and season.?
  4. Consider what activities might keep them around longer to experience more of your destination.
