Oct’23: My video went VIRAL. Got 470k+ views using 5 steps!

Welcome to the October edition of my newsletter Kapoor Konfidence where I talk about emotional success for young leaders by sharing my monthly stories.


This month one of my reels has crossed 450k+ views with 24k likes.?

4428 saves. 3291 shares.

All other reels have crossed an average view of 6k views.?

I have gained 15k followers in the last 15 days.


How did it all happen? Let's decode.


From 2019 to 2022, as a Copywriter, I was writing content for top brands like Colors TV which had 5 million+ followers - just on Instagram.


In March of 2023, I got certified by IIT Roorkee as a Digital Marketing professional. I even made a VLOG about the campus and my learnings.

Then I started watching, hours of podcasts, shorts, and vlogs of Gary Vee, Think Media, Ali Abdaal, and many more.

Finally, I started posting regularly for the last 9 months. And today, 12k people have joined my gram. 3,40,000 people have watched 1 video.


Here are Top 5 Industry-relevant Tips:

1. Brand Positioning: What's your standpoint

Identify yourself for long-term, before jumping into posting videos.

Imagine the Padmashree Award ceremony is going to happen. The President of India is about to facilitate you. What will he call you for? What is your industry? What would be your contribution to the country?

Fixing my standpoint as a small-towner in a big city who works in Media & Wellness industry helped me stay authentic. This is important before you impulsive start posting. Who are you? With or without social media. Fix that first.


2. References: What's working for them?

Comparative analysis is best to understand the market

Instead of finding faults in other big creators, I decided to learn how they make content. I made a list of different creators- noticed their font style, opening hook, and thumbnail + stored them in a doc.

Then, I designed my version. It took me months. But, even my first 5 pieces of content looked sincere and competitive.? (NOTE: Don't go into perfectionism & and never post at all. Posting anything is still better than nothing)?


3. Algorithm: Devil or Devta?

Your videos must either educate or entertain. Take a decision.

Learning at IIT, I realized how YouTube, algorithms, and brands also need us - the creators. The algorithm is not just inside the app. In Neuroscience, it is said that even our brains have algorithmic thinking which helps us make decisions faster.

I got clarity that my reels must help people simplify life & take a decision?AND NOT make them more confused. (NOTE: Many times in the name of art etc. we complicate simple stuff)



4. Attention Span: Neuromarketing

Trust me. People recognize good work.

I believe that our attention span has NOT declined. With social media, we have just become more aware as creators. Ever since childhood, TMKOC or News Channels have evidently used auditory clues or optical flashes- every 5 seconds to stop us from changing the channel via remote.

Similarly, I started changing the frame every 3 seconds in REELs. Whether it was a simple zoom in-zoom out OR stock footage… I decided to treat my viewers with a full-course meal.


5. Patience: Slow is the fastest

One thing that you love to do. Do it daily like a ritual. Meditate on it. Forget the rewards.

Lately, I have stopped pushing myself for INSTANT SUCCESS. But I can still create good stories/content because I love to express myself. Therefore, many reels did not garner more than 1k views, still, I enjoyed refining my storytelling process.


Treat your Personal Social Media profile more like a diary. Share like a friend.

Treat your Business Social Media profile more like a School. Teach about your product.


That's it guys.

I am not happy that I went VIRAL. I am happy that I'm becoming a good creator.

Currently, I am at 17k followers on Instagram. Many top creators are at 170k or 1.7million. So what? Until I die, this is gonna be a process.

One Question: Dear friends/lions, whether its the PM of a Country, a CEO or a Policeman - everyone is creating content. WHY? Is it just for FUN? Or are we missing out something?
