An Ocean of Plastic

An Ocean of Plastic

Standing on the shore,

Looking out to sea,

Everything seems fine.

Wouldn’t you agree?

I hear the crashing waves,

I smell the salty air,

I feel the ocean breeze,

Blowing gently through my hair.

But there’s something in the water,

Something that shouldn’t be.

It’s plastic, big and small,

So small you cannot see.

It travels with the currents,

Wreaking havoc as it goes,

Entangling our sea life,

Jeez, this plastic really blows!

It’s eaten by our fish,

Which end up on our plate.

We’ll have a plastic ocean,

If we keep up at this rate.

More plastic than fish?

How can it be so?

But take a look around you,

It’s everywhere you go.

It’s up to us to fix this,

So clean up what you can.

Avoid it in your daily life,

Start your own plastic ban!
