Occlusion in deep endometriosis of the Colon and the Rectum: a severe endometriosis complications of underestimated prevalence

47 year woman

Occlusion due to double stenotic localisation of deep endometriosis, involving transverse colon and mid rectum. The colostoma was carried out in emergency in another facility.

One month later, we removed the disease by double segmental resection, along with hysterectomy and right oophorectomy. The procedure was full time recorded.

As occlusions such this one are managed in emergency in peripheral facilities, there is no database specifically recording these events. However, I use to manage every year at least one patient with ongoing diverting stoma which has been placed elsewhere in emergency for bowel occlusion due to endometriosis.

Very nice job. I wish I'd had those bipolar graspers. Back in my time we had primitive instruments.
