£5000 scholarships for future 'change-makers' in Hospitality
The OCC Trust is offering two scholarships for young people (aged 18 to 35) who are working or studying in hospitality or gastronomy. Winners will receive £5000 and mentoring support for one year.
Applicants are invited to propose a self-designed project, which will benefit them personally and professionally, and have a positive impact on others. The Trustees are seeking future ‘change-makers’, who have the potential to make significant and positive contributions to industry and society.
On offer are the Lou Willcock Scholarship, which captures the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of hospitality, and the Golden Chopsticks Scholarship, for those who are passionate about Chinese and Southeast Asian cuisine and culture.
The Trust is calling out to employers and educators who are aware of talented young professionals working or studying in hospitality or gastronomy, who they believe could be worthy recipients of an OCC Trust scholarship.
The OCC Trust is a registered charity that supports the educational agenda of the Oxford Cultural Collective, a creative body that champions the regenerative potential of food, drink and hospitality, for the benefit of communities, places and the natural environment.
From Ben McEwen, Chair of the OCC Trust: “The range of scholarships we provide will grow over time. In addition to receiving financial support and mentoring, winners will become part of supportive community, the members of which will work together to champion progressive practice in our sector. We encourage applicants from a range of social and cultural backgrounds and from those who have not previously accessed formal backing.”
The closing date for applications is 31st August 2024.
