Observations & Lessons from 2022

Observations & Lessons from 2022

The world always needs more humor. I completed a 1-year improv comedy school. My most shared social media content has a humor spin. Laughter is universal, across every group of people.

Peace of mind, happiness, and low stress are far more valuable attributes to have, than always thinking about money. Don't feel shamed by the "hustle" influencers and "I work harder than anyone else" messages.

Ever notice that the hustle culture people never have a smile on their face? Most of them look 10 years older than their actual age. They live primarily within stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout. No thanks. That was my life in my 20's and 30's. I had plenty of money but zero freedom.

It was a year of solid wins for the "cOnsp1r@cY theorists". Things we were sharing the last 3 years, have mostly become unveiled as truth in 2022. It's amusing to look back over the last 3 of my Facebook Memories, and see all the "I-told-you-so" topics I shared. Lesson: I do not trust the government, social media platforms, news, or medicine.

There has been a larger than usual spike in fake gurus and influencers in the last year. Flashy personalities that rise out from nowhere, buying fake magazine clout, photoshopping themselves on Forbes covers, buying thousands of fake followers, likes, and comments, etc. People want to be famous without demonstrating real results, and being patient for the real recognition that comes with creating impact over time.

It's been a wonderful year of cultivating real relationships. I appreciate the quality interactions among my peer group and close friends. Again, quality beats quantity. Don't scale the size of your network unless they are also high quality people. Remove the weeds instantly when you spot them. Give much more than you ask from others.

Physical and mental strength continue to improve. I achieved all of my strength goals. At age 50, I'm stronger (literally, not figuratively) than I've ever been, before. I'm also happier. I have zero stress. I'm aware of, and fully control my emotional state. Please take your physical and mental conditioning seriously in 2023. Make it your top priority. No excuses.

Travel is the best way to expand your perspectives about many things in life. You'll gain appreciation for cultures, efficiencies, history lessons, and sometimes a greater appreciation for what we have in the US. In 2022 we visited 9 different countries, and several states. My wife and I don't "take vacations", we've made travel a part of our routine in life. Perhaps we'll do some extended months living in other countries, in 2023.

My 365 Driven podcast crossed the 4-year mark. It's now rated in the Top-1% of all podcasts. I'm always pushing to improve the show, and myself as a host. I was also interviewed as a guest on 47 other shows in 2022. I appreciate every one of those conversations. For 2023, you can expect more upgrades; I'm building out a studio and doing some branding updates. Always improve and level up!

I'm proud of my coaching clients. We've witnessed incredible breakthroughs in courage, accountability, and execution. The improvements aren't just about business, but in life. Relationships and marriages became stronger. Their fitness became more focused. Many of them found their voice and more clarity about their purpose. I love what I do.

I had loved ones pass away in 2022, both friends and family. Each passing just moves me one step closer to further appreciating my own mortality and remaining time. Too many people live without intention or urgency. Too many focus on material items rather than building memories. Each of us contain the potential to create a massive impact in this world in our own way, yet we pretend we have plenty of time. We don't. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. If you were to unfortunately die today, how would you be remembered? Is it enough? Or could you have done more? This is what drives me.

Thank you for being part of my journey in 2022. Here's to 2023!

$9bn+ in sales. I build brands that customers chase after. If you're done wasting ad dollars, let's talk. Make your brand a magnet, not a money pit.
