Observations from DTx France 2024

Was pleased to be part of a DHx France? (ex-DTx France) panel discussion last week bringing a global view to DTx progress and trends.?A balanced and forward-looking session joined by Diana Meskendahl, née Fischbach , advisor to the management board at German Digital Health Association, Carmen Sachez-Gomez, DTx Spain, Ludovic Ampe , Neuroventis, and Paul-Louis BELLETANTE , Resilience, and skillfully moderated by Anca Petre .?Some takeaways:

  • Progress in building and streamlining the pathway to reimbursement and adoption in Spain, Belgium Germany, and France is clear – and good to see some similarity in approaches, learning from each other, and sharing of experiences.
  • The pathway is not yet a “highway” nor the “Autobahn” we might all hope for.? The progress is still slow and uneven, with progress measured in not in weeks or months, but years or even decades.? Most start-ups in this space will struggle to survive that long.
  • There is a high level of awareness of the importance of developing the evidence needed for regulatory, reimbursement and clinician acceptance, and tech innovators understand and are investing in the required data and analytics – even if the standards are not entirely defined or stable.
  • Incorporation of DTx in clinical trials provides an important means to build support for DTx use – in the form of digital biomarkers or endpoints, patient monitoring and data collection.? Also builds awareness and credibility with clinicians, regulators, and patients.? Consistency and streamlining across legislative and regulatory bodies governing certification and clinical investigation approval will strengthen this channel for DTx use.
  • Bringing stakeholders together to share experience and perspectives is essential – and kudos to DHx France? (ex-DTx France) for convening this conference. More to be done of course to accelerate the progress we will all benefit from as DTx provide the full potential benefit to patients and health systems.?

More on these themes – and many more – will be covered in our forthcoming report Digital Trends 2024 from the # IQVIAInstitute for Human Data Science.

Thanks Murray for coming to Paris and sharing insights. Looking forward to reading the 2024 Digital trends report from the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science!
