Here is an interesting trend of simplification and minimisation of workload orchestrators happening now.

In the last decade, we transitioned from docker primitives to full-fledged Kubernetes platforms.

Ironically, nowadays, often, we are moving away from massive and all-mighty Kubernetes distros like Rancher, OpenShift in favour of something tiny and easy to use like k3s or even MRSK.

The primary reasons for this shift are:

  • For most users core functionality is just enough
  • Ease of use
  • Edge deployments
