Welcome to this month's edition of The Fold, where we'll provide you with an exclusive insider's look at Innov8rs Lisbon. It was an exceptional couple of days that truly showcased the shared challenges we face as innovators and provided a forum for us to air our grievances and discuss how to overcome them.

For those who weren't able to attend, don't fret - we've compiled our personal highlights below, so you can feel like you were there (minus the delightful pastel de nata and 30-degree sunshine, of course).

So, in no particular order - let’s dive in!

The invigorating keynote by? Rui Coutinho , Executive Director at Nova SBE Innovation Ecosystem,?was a real standout for us. Rui's session emphasised the vital importance of embracing disruption as an?inevitable?challenge. It shed light on the imperative for organisations to adopt a "future-driven" mindset, fostering innovation at a rapid pace and seamlessly integrating it into their core strategies.

Roman ?iser , Innovation Manager at ?koda, gave us some amazing Innovation Insights on day 1 of the conference, where he revealed the secrets of establishing innovation processes and governance within large corporations. Roman shared practical tips on how to align your entire organisation around key opportunities, engage top management effectively, and leverage the right tools throughout your innovation journey.

We hear a lot about what we should do when it comes to innovation, but what about the things we should definitely?NOT?do?? Claus von Riegen , Vice President and Head of Business Model Innovation at SAP SE, has us covered. By disregarding the corporate immune system, overlooking key assumptions, or straying too far from the corporate strategy, Claus warned us that we unwittingly amplify the risk of failure.

Carla Mendon?a Tavares , Head of Commercial Innovation Center at GALP, emphasised the significance of having both a strategic and collaborative mindset when driving innovation in your organisation. The session highlighted several key aspects of innovation at Galp, including a hybrid governance model, an innovation roadmap, bringing forth a diverse portfolio of opportunities, a strong focus on execution, and maintaining proximity to their business units.?

When we discuss innovation, we unanimously agree that organisations must possess the ability to swiftly adapt and operate efficiently while bravely embracing risks and foreseeing the ever-evolving needs and expectations of consumers.? Marta Rufino , Global Innovation Director at Sigma, shared a practical guide on how to establish a shared approach to innovation, ensuring unwavering focus and allocation of resources, and cultivating novel methodologies in well-oiled machines.

We attended a brilliant session with? Dennis Boecker , Global IoT Innovation Lead at Bosch Group, which allowed us to immerse ourselves in a lean framework designed to better structure and improve innovation processes. We engaged in lively conversations, exploring the effort and impact associated with implementing this approach. It was an invigorating exchange of ideas where we gained fresh insights and perspectives from fellow participants.

We attended tons more sessions, but we couldn’t possibly fit everything we loved about Innov8rs into just one email. Thank you so much to the Innov8rs team for an amazing event, and we can’t wait for the next one!?
