Rd-03E is a 24GHz single radar and high-performance 24GHz one-pitch microstrip antenna module. It can detect and identify motion and micro-moving human bodies, and report real-time distance. It can detect targets and gestures in designated areas and report results in real time.

This module can be used in smart toilets, sensor access control, building intercoms, electronic peepholes, mirror lights, new energy charging, parking space monitoring and other smart home, smart security, and smart lighting industries.

Accurate ranging

●It adopts the FMCW frequency modulation continuous wave radar system to detect human targets in the scene, and the accurate ranging algorithm reports the human body sensing position in real time.

●It can distinguish human body movement and micro-movement status, independently configure the detection area, and shield interference outside the area.

●The sensing range can be set, and the distance measurement accuracy is ±5cm.

Gesture Recognition

Rd-03E is based on the radar sensing technology of the Doppler effect, intelligently recognizes gesture movements, and realizes non-contact control of functions such as non-contact gesture switches, human body proximity wake-up, motion sensing, and human body presence sensing.

For example, the product is used in smart toilets:

When a person enters the sensing range and the radar detects the person, the night light turns on, the seat is heated, and the toilet seat is opened at the same time;

When a person waves (waves up and down) within the toilet, the toilet automatically opens the inner ring;

When people leave the sensing range and the radar cannot detect people, the toilet turns off heating, closes the lid, night light, and turns on flushing and sterilization functions.

High stability

The Rd-03E radar module uses a high-performance pitch-catch microstrip antenna, including extremely simplified 24GHz radar sensor hardware Xen102 and intelligent algorithm firmware RM01. The intelligent algorithm firmware RM01 uses FMCW waveforms and advanced signal processing technology proprietary to the S3 series chip .

It is not affected by ambient temperature, humidity, airflow, dust, noise, light and dark, etc. when working in various environments, giving users a better experience.

Plug and play, real-time reporting of detection results

Ai-Thinker's Rd-03E radar module size is 28*24mm, which saves the space occupied by the product. It is packaged in DIP and has a standard 2.54mm pin header, so it can be quickly embedded into the product motherboard. At the same time, the wall-mounted installation method is used, which is flexible and convenient.


It can be embedded in lamps, home appliances, and electronic products to detect the human body and various moving targets, achieving various goals of product beauty and practicality.

Wide coverage, multi-dimensional perception

The Rd-03E radar module can sense a moving human body at a maximum distance of 6m and a micro-moving human body at a maximum distance of 3.5m. Accurate ranging, the human body sensing module detection range has an azimuth angle of ±20° and a pitch angle of ±45°; the gesture recognition detection range has an azimuth angle of ±20° and a pitch angle of ±40°.

Multi-level intelligent parameter adjustment to meet the needs of different scenarios

The Rd-03E module provides a visual configuration tool to adjust various parameters such as the sensing distance range, sensing sensitivity in different intervals, and unattended delay time through the host computer. It supports UART and realizes intelligent parameter adjustment through the serial port. Users can also adjust parameters based on the module. It has rich algorithms and strong scalability to meet users’ personalized scenario needs.

For example, when used in smart lamps, the sensing range can be set (assumed to be 3 meters) to achieve the following functions:

When a person enters within 3 meters of the bedside lamp and senses someone, the bedside lamp turns on;

If no one is detected within 3 meters of the bedside lamp, the bedside lamp will automatically turn off;

The farther away the person is from the bedside lamp, the stronger the light will be; the closer the person is to the bedside lamp, the softer and more comfortable the light will be;

When a person performs small movements such as reading/writing or working in the bedside lamp sensing area, the bedside lamp will continue to turn on the lighting mode normally.
