Oberammergau Passion Play

This was a once in a lifetime experience. The play is put on every ten years and all the cast around 700 come from the village. It has been put on with only a couple of exeptions since 1634. This year the season ends 2nd of October and you can buy packages that include tickets and accommodation.

The whole village of some 5,400 are involved with the play and many open their homes to guests.

I went with no expectation but was totally enthralled by the experience.

This year they expect around 500,000 to watch the performances.
