OBAMACARE UNBUNDLED
As a practicing insurance agent for forty years, I can dare say that the legislation which we call Obamacare is not only seriously misunderstood, it is also a logistic disaster. Deductible portions, co-insurance limits are so high one almost has to get into a life-threatening debacle to use it. One thing Obamacare does not do is address care quality which many fail to comprehend.
All that Obamacare accomplishes is that it affords ACCESS to third party reimbursement for services w/out reprisal for a pre-existing condition. It does NOT allow an offering third party health insurer to deny, limit or exclude coverage for anyone, a saving grace for what was common practice by insurers for years.
The downside is that due to the encroachments which Obamacare placed insofar as mandated access, a significant number of carriers had to exit the playing field. To consumers, the downside is that following Federal law, people may be only able to access coverage in their home state of domicile. In turn, if the number of choices is seriously limited, the consumer has little to no option.
President Trump's plan would alleviate this. By removing artificial boundary lines of states and opening up the market, consumers would benefit. There would be more choice, but the greater a number of potential customers in the pool of potential purchasers, the more likely the per unit cost would DECREASE!
The President's idea makes perfect sense. Don't expect sage wisdom from politicians who know nothing, let alone risk pricing.
