Obamacare Endures
Last week marked a major defeat for President Donald Trump as one of his major campaign promises to repeal and replace Obamacare collapsed. The GOP's American Healthcare Act was pulled from the House floor on Friday before it went to a vote. President Trump gave House Speaker Paul Ryan the OK to pull the plug on the vote after Speaker Ryan informed the President that they could not secure enough votes to pass the bill. This means that Obamacare remains the law of the land for now, as Ryan said in a subsequent press conference. However, Trump and Vice President Mike Pence how both vowed that their fight against the Affordable Care Act will continue and that the Trump Administration will "give the American people the world-class healthcare that they deserve."
Trump's "Art of the Deal" was revealed to be a house of cards. President Trump was woefully unprepared and uninformed on his own healthcare bill. Rather than learn the details and work towards compromise and solutions, he resorted to threats and grandstanding. It cost him and the Republican Party. Now he's seeking to shift the blame while Paul Ryan acts like the adult in the room. With this spectacular failure on Obamacare, you have to wonder how Trump believes he can get tax reform through Congress.
