O5 LIVE - Through an Advisory Lens

O5 LIVE - Through an Advisory Lens

Quite Laterally exhibited at O5Live Live this year, it was our first time at this event, and a huge investment for us.

Focus

Previously the event had focused predominantly on Oracle E – Business Suite but this year their focus shifted to Oracle Cloud and AI. This made the event much more appealing to Quite Laterally - ERP and HCM project services. as our focus is on providing Advisory and Transformation Services to organisations looking to modernise their ERP Platforms.

The shift in focus was right up our street, and we eagerly took on board a conference stand and roundtable slot.

Ambiance

The event didn’t disappoint, from the get-go we were impressed with the location (Count Hall – Westminster) on the banks of the Thames with views overlooking Westminster, Big Ben and the London Eye. It was an amazing backdrop for the innovative conversations that would ensue at O5Live . At these events, content is king, however the content flows more freely when the surroundings are inspirational and that’s what we got at O5 Live, a great environment, great food, great refreshments and awesome content.

?O5 Key Themes

The event was very informative with a wide range of content from Oracle, Partners and Customers. Oracle themselves provide updates on what to expect over the coming months with their Applications Unlimited Programme. This was led by Eric Massieu

There were several session on AI including the Oracle AI Roadmap, but also very informative sessions from Andreea Vasiliu (Oracle) providing insights into how Oracle EPM is evolving with AI to improve your financial processes.

No Oracle Cloud event would be complete without covering the newest Oracle Cloud UI – Redwood, Fudgelearn Tony Cook & Roger Cranstone gave us an awesome overview of the implications of Redwood and how Oracle Guided Learning is helping with adoption of new features.

With so many speakers and such great content covered its very difficult for us to represent everyone fully here – if this has piqued your interest then our advice is to reach out to Kerry (Stuart) Wilson to find out about joining next years event.

Quite Laterally Round Table

We know, we know, it’s a little bit self-promoting, but hey – it’s our article!! There was a lot of interest in our Round Table (we needed to pinch a couple of chairs from other tables). As ERP transformation specialists we focused the stages of an Oracle Cloud Transformation and shared wisdom on our key lessons learned. Here are our top three:

What are the top 3 issues you see with ERP/HCM Programmes?

·?????? Underestimating

·?????? Fitting a plan in around a date

·?????? Lack of business change/business readiness

What is your top tip for each stage?

·?????? Design – Write it down!

·?????? Data Migration – Cleanse, over and over again and understand your data

·?????? Testing – be ready, it wont be easy!

·?????? Cut over – Plan for all eventualities

·?????? Business change & readiness – Its not a sprint more a marathon, this includes system admin

·?????? Project Closure – take time to reflect

What is the benefit of a blended customer side team?

·?????? SME involvement throughout – it’s your system!

·?????? Bridge skills, knowledge and experts

·?????? Learning and support

?Community Feel

The O5Live bought a community feel to the event, the environment and structure of the day was warm and welcoming and everyone who attended was there to share information and build relationships.

The event bought a #payitforward vibe by donating a stand to Finnbar's Force – a regional charity dedicated to supporting children with cancer (and their families). This enabled @Finnars Force to promote their charity and their Mountain Fox trek taking place on the 10th August 2024 where over 30 people from the Pan Oracle Community will be trekking up Scaffel Pike. This resulted in us raising over £750 on the day with a very generous £500 donation from @Inderjeet Kaur from Clifford Chance

We checked in with the event organisers and at the time of writing they have raised over £3k for the charity. If you want to sponsor the hike you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/eq7MNQJp

Clever Content

Its not always easy getting around every session at these events, especially when you are running sessions and looking after a stand as well. This means you have to be very selective about the sessions you attend, we chose wisely – these were our top picks:

Ellie Turner Coughlin

Ellie gave a captivating Keynote at the start of the day, which really did help to foster more open and connected networking. She emphasized the importance of genuine connections in networking. For Ellie, networking isn't about collecting contacts, “it's about fostering relationships.” Ellie encouraged us to be curious about the people we meet and to engage in deeper conversations. Her key take aways were that “by being more curious and open minded, we can transform how we connect with clients and colleagues, leading to more meaningful and impactful professional relationships"

?The OG Group

These two ladies Victoria Collier and Danielle Croft really bought AI back down to earth, in their session their took the audience through Oracle’s AI roadmap, demystifying the AI terminology and showing us how AI is being used now in day-to-day life and how it might be used in the future.

We loved how they managed to use the context of the film Legally Blonde to show us how AI can transform the legal sector. We hope you got to sit in on this session Clifford Chance but if not, you should reach out to the The OG Group for a re-run.

Civil Nuclear Constabulary

Quite Laterally - ERP and HCM project services. really enjoyed the talk by Irene Tucknott FCCA the Head of BPSS System Support & Development at the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC), with Namos Solutions their Systems Integrator.

Civil Nuclear Constabulary is a previous customer of Quite Laterally listening to how a customer has matured in their journey, their reflection on lessons, pitfall and their advice for other customers was amazing to see!

it’s wonderful to hear about CNC’s journey and how they’ve successfully navigated the challenges of migrating to their own Fusion solution! The focus on critical factors, planning for continuous improvements, and maintaining strong relationships within the project team and with external advisors are all key ingredients for success. It’s impressive that they’ve been live for over 2 years with phase 1 and have continued to enhance their Oracle real estate between their own support and development team which they continue to support and invest in, and their Managed Service with Namos.

Well done!
