Here are my notes from two events this week that are exploring how technology and design can support wider sustainability goals. One event was focused more on Civic Agencies and Academia, the other on Entrepreneurs and Investors. More increasingly, we are seeing the same faces at both types of events, which is a great sign for connecting networks to help pull in funds, talent, and opportunity areas.??Getting the Jim Collins "flywheel" moving faster. Here are some links in case you want to dive in.
Event 1: Pilot NYC's Pitchfest at Pier 57 Community Space
Pilot NYC's Pitch Fest was held at the Pier 57 Community Space! Led by Cara Eckholm Cornell Tech As a faculty member at Pratt Institute , I had the pleasure of collaborating with my colleagues to engage with civic agencies including The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey , DOT, NYCHA, and others. The goal? To foster partnerships and provide support for a wide range of infrastructure, transport, and civic life improvements.
This unique format allowed city agencies to pitch their challenges/and current pilots directly to academia, creating a bridge for student and faculty research to address real-world problems. Also, members leading NYC area universities pitched their research interest areas.?
It's a fantastic initiative that not only provides practical solutions but also enriches academic research with practical agency insights.?
