NYC Climate Week is coming up, and there are some great events for lawyers!

• Accelerating Research, Development, and Demonstration for Responsible Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal – Where Are We on the Road to 2030? - 9/23 - 9AM-12 PM EDT - In-person - This session will explore where we are in the race to prove or disprove the myriad of potential mCDR approaches being advanced. In the past year, there has been a great deal of change and advance in the field. This session will highlight some of those changes, and specifically look at advances by the US federal government; views from other national governments that are exploring the field; changes and lessons from the mCDR investment arena; and a look at some of the major international policy and governance hurdles that we face.? • The Animals’ Lawsuit Against Humanity: Live Reading & Premiere - 9/23 - 10AM-12PM EDT - Hybrid - Live reading & premiere of a 1,000-Year-Old Earth Law Fable in play form for the first time. Post-show discussion and Q&A with script writer and author Anson Laytner and Earth Law Center Executive Director Grant Wilson. After the program, join us for a mixer; light food & drinks provided. • The Professional Duty of Lawyers and Bar Associations in Action on Climate - 9/23 - 6-7PM EDT - In-person - This event brings together a growing coalition of national, international, state, and local bar associations. It is premised on the idea that lawyers have a professional duty to be climate-competent in their day-to-day work. Panelists will advance practical ideas on the contours of that duty in counseling clients and engaging in pro bono activities. (Hosted by New York City Bar Association , Panelists include Amy L. • Climate Contracting for In-House Lawyers - 9/24 - 9-10AM EDT - Hybrid - Offit Kurman presents a free virtual CLE discussion with The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP), a leading nonprofit that develops resources for incorporating climate considerations into contracts. This panel will include a keynote opening from Ben Metz, the Executive Director of TCLP, about TCLP and their mission to utilize their global network of lawyers and business leaders to focus on decarbonization through climate contracting. The keynote will be followed by a comprehensive discussion on TCLP’s climate clauses, which have recently been updated for use by US attorneys. • Investing in America for the Climate: Unprecedented EPA investments change lives across the country - 9/24 -130-3PM EDT - Hybrid - Top EPA officials from across the country will speak about how EPA is investing in communities across America and what that investment looks like on the ground. • Earth Law Colloquium: Aligning Our Laws with Nature’s Laws - 9/25 - 12-6PM EDT - In-person - Join a slate of five panels on Earth law topics beginning at the top of each hour from 12pm-5pm. Each panel is ~30 minutes, followed by Q&A and mingling. After the panels, there will be a party in the City that Never Sleeps to connect with other Nature defenders in a casual setting.
