Interested in joining the best alumni board in the New York area? We’d love to have you! Apply to be on the board for the June 2024-May 2025 term. Applications are due May 15. Learn more via the New Member Application.

Preview the alumni board positions below, and we hope to hear from you if interested!

  • Event Chairs: Organize some of our most popular events including: Welcome to the City, Elon Day, annual Yankees game and more
  • Social Media Chairs: VERY involved positions; responsibilities include highlighting upcoming events, taking pictures/videos during events and sharing recap content on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Community Outreach Chairs: Run our philanthropic events, including soup kitchens and charity walks
  • Professional Development Chairs: Organize our events catered to career networking for those hiring and those looking for jobs
  • Women of Elon Chairs: New positions! Responsible for putting together events for alumni, such as group picnics, workout classes and more.
  • General Board Members: The glue that holds us together! A great way to learn how our board works; helping write our newsletters, volunteering at events and brainstorming new ideas.

We appreciate the NYC alumni chapter supporting Elon’s mission. Your time and contributions allow Elon to remain accessible to outstanding students.

Neighborhood happenings

Japan Day Parade

A relatively new event in NYC, the Japan Parade was originally supposed to start in 2020, but was delayed until 2022 due to COVID. It commemorates the 160th anniversary of the first Japanese delegates’ visit to the United States. The parade takes place on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. on West 81st Street and Central Park West, ending at West 67th Street. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be a Japanese Street Fair happening on West 72nd Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, with activities and food.

Ninth Avenue International Food Festival

On Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival will be taking place between 42nd and 57th Streets. This is the oldest and largest continuing food festival in New York City. Head to 9th Avenue and check out all of the delicious varieties of food that our great city has to offer.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

A fan favorite returns to New York City! Between May 11-14, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will be taking place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. There will be over 3,000 dogs representing over 200 breeds at the event. To check the schedule and buy tickets, click here.
