Frost & Sullivan applies actionable insights to create a stream of innovative growth opportunities for our customers
NX Filtration is a pioneer in offering innovative and advanced hollow fiber based nanofiltration membranes (direct nanofiltration or dNF). Over the past years, NX Filtration has been one of the few membrane companies that has significantly disrupted the market.
Key factors that have driven growth are its sustainable and cost-effective single-step solutions to help customers ensure sustainable production of drinking water, as well as the reuse of water, and a functional capability to meet ever-evolving stringent discharge standards by positioning as an efficient alternative to UF or RO membranes in most water and effluent treatment applications.
The following are the key differentiating factors that make it stand out amongst its peers:
1) Enabling the Water Transition – Globally industries are faced with water stress especially due to a decrease in ground water levels leading to higher dependence on surface water which is impacted by pollution or droughts. These factors have led industries to adopt policies & standards and develop new frameworks to reduce water footprint alongside broader goals to decarbonize and improve sustainability. NX Filtration has rightly positioned itself as a sustainable solution to enable water transition and adaptation towards different water sources (i.e. Ground to surface water) whilst ensuring energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. In addition, NX Filtration through its innovative solution has promoted its water handprint by being enabler of sustainability outcomes in the form of water conservation through reuse and reduction in use of chemicals.

2) Strong network of integrators leading to strong customer relationships: In the last three years, the company has rapidly spread its presence across the globe by leveraging the need for sustainable water reuse solution. Its expansion has been specially enabled by serving high-profile integrators such as Veolia and Evoqua Water Technologies as well as key end-customers such as 百事 . dNF membranes of NX Filtration consumes relatively much lower energy and chemicals which is one of the core reasons for customer selecting the solution. Strategic partnerships with leading OEM’s and leading local integrators have also played a key role in repeat customers, NX Filtration has rightly managed to engage and support OEM’s in developing high quality treatment systems resulting in consistent high performance of the systems at the customer end. NX Filtration has strategically focused on developing a fleet of pilot systems for demonstration at the customer sites, the scale and ready availability of pilot fleet has been instrumental in showcasing the membranes value proposition and had also enabled faster transition towards full scale projects. As of 2022, the company has already deployed 162 pilot systems. The company plans to expand its pilot fleet to 200 to cater to new demand, especially in NA and APAC.
3) Driving Trust through Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles: The company espouses ESG values at its core, the membrane production process itself is green as it uses a water-based coating process, and the membrane spinning process is highly energy efficient making it environment friendly. And whilst on the field the membranes enable customers fulfil ESG goals through sustainable reuse of treated wastewater and low energy & chemical consumption which enables customers to avoid the use of 6.7 million kilograms of chemicals and to save 82 GWh of energy, based on the NX Filtration membranes sold in 2022.
4) Exponential Growth: The company has grown by 105%, from €4.06 million in 2021, to €8.4 million in 2022. In 2022, the company specially focused its efforts on expanding its sales force ensuring strong regional level organisation expertise thus enabling a strong customer connect. The company also expanded its production capacity at its current site and initiated the construction of a brand-new ultramodern megafactory for its direct nanofiltration membranes. The new megafactory is planned to start-up in the first half of 2024 and is needed to meet expected demand from NX Filtration’s rapidly growing overall pipeline of opportunities.
