??NVTC News & Events: Your Guide to Fall Tech Events & Opportunities??

Fall Greetings to Our Incredible Tech Community!

This fall, NVTC is more energized than ever by the incredible momentum within our region’s tech ecosystem. Just two weeks ago, we hosted our inaugural ‘Community of Interest’ Fall Social at Fluet in Tysons, where over 230 professionals gathered to network, celebrate achievements, and exchange ideas.

Connecting with each of you is one of the highlights of my role. Your stories inspire me daily, showcasing the innovation and drive that make our community so exceptional.

Our recent social is a reminder of the unique opportunities NVTC offers to grow your connections, knowledge, and influence in the tech industry. No other organization in our region provides such a dynamic blend of networking, learning, celebration and advocacy.

As you scroll through the newsletter, you'll find ways to recognize outstanding leaders in our tech community, get the latest insights at our 9th annual Cyber Summit, and discover how to make the most of your NVTC membership to grow your network and tackle the tech challenges shaping our region's future.

Don't miss the updates about the NVTC TechPAC and our legislative priorities for the 2025 General Assembly session!

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Taylor , NVTC President and CEO

How it works:

  • COIs meet 4-6 times a year.
  • Events (typically in the morning) feature insightful speakers and networking.

?? NVTC's TechPAC drives tech advocacy

The big picture: Advocacy is a top priority for NVTC and our TechPAC is key to advancing our legislative agenda.

2024 legislative wins:

  • We successfully lobbied against the proposed ‘digital goods tax’, and NVTC was the "tip of the spear" in this opposition.
  • We pushed for progress on AI, data center siting, and updates to the Consumer Data Protection Act.

Why TechPAC matters: A robust TechPAC ensures NVTC’s voice is heard on critical economic, workforce, and infrastructure issues.

What they’re saying: Legislative experts predict the ‘digital goods tax’ will resurface in 2025, and NVTC will keep fighting it. NVTC will also monitor:

  • Joint Commission on Technology & Science (JCOTS) recommendations on blockchain, AI, and online safety
  • The Joint Legislative Audit & Review Commission’s (JLARC) Data Center Report (Dec 9, 2024)

Looking ahead: NVTC will keep championing Virginia's tech sector—no other organization plays this role.

The bottom line: Support TechPAC to help us continue advancing tech innovation and strengthening the workforce. Contribute now!

??Ensuring team continuity through change

Written by Andrew Deutscher , CEO and Founder of Regenerate .

You feel like your team is in place and things are moving forward nicely. Everything seems to be falling into place.??

And then… a key player leaves. An organizational restructure happens. You now have to shift and take on a new set of responsibilities.??

Lack of continuity can cause loss of institutional knowledge and floundering teams left to deal with unclear expectations or overwhelming workloads.??

We can’t stop change from happening. However, we CAN ensure that our people have the resources to minimize the impact change has on their ability to be sustainably productive.??

As a leader, you can:??

  • Create alignment between team members

  • Ensure expectations are set and maintained

  • Acknowledge small wins as a way to fuel ongoing motivation
