Nurturing an Inclusive Environment

A client recently reached out and wanted to discuss inclusion. They had a history of growing their businesses, delivering results, and by all accounts they had a pretty good grasp of the foundational role inclusion plays in organizational success. They held two core beliefs about inclusion:
Said another way, they believe that an inclusive workplace is essential for businesses to thrive in today's world. They understood that creating an inclusive workplace environment requires that all team members, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, age, and all other characteristic, feel valued and respected, and that their contributions are recognized. And that companies who prioritize inclusivity tend to have more engaged and loyal team members, a more diverse and innovative workforce, and a better reputation among customers and investors.
The leader wanted to discuss practical steps they could take to reinforce and maintain their culture of inclusivity. Here are some key concepts we discussed:

I believe creating an inclusive workplace environment is good for business, team members, and communities. I also believe leaders who prioritize inclusivity and take the necessary steps to foster an inclusive workplace will reap the benefits of a more engaged and diverse workforce, a better reputation among customers and investors, and a more innovative and successful business overall.

2 年There should be some implementation of training, on all levels - unconscious bias, sensitivity, etc. Additionally, hiring a diversity sme to launch programs - ERGs, etc.
