Little Scholars' newest campus manager
In March we bid farewell to our long-time campus manager Sam, and said welcome to Carmen, who hails from the Sunshine Coast! Carmen has nearly two decades of experience working in early learning.
"I value the time and believe it is a privilege to work with children every day in shaping their little minds and their growth and development. I foster a belief that children have a lot to teach us as adults and believe in their ability to shape our cultural views and beliefs and attitude," she says.
Carmen is thrilled to work in Stapylton, which she says has been welcoming so far, both within the campus and the broader community!
Honouring our campus managers
Speaking of our campus managers, who work tirelessly supporting our little scholars, their families and our incredible educators, we wanted to celebrate their hard work and give them a chance to have some fun. Mel, our regional manager, as well as regional managers Skye and Sasha, and Jen, our quality practice manager, took our campus managers out for a day of long lunching, 10-pin bowling and putt putt, giving everyone a chance to have fun, relax and connect with each other.
Camp Out
Our second annual Camp Out was held on 22 March across our campuses. Our children and families got to enjoy BBQ, roasting marshmallows, spend some time hanging out in tents, some were treated to a reptile show, face painting and star-gazing.
Camp Out was created after responses from a parent survey included camping when asked what parents' best childhood memories were.
“We know the world we live in is extremely busy and many children these days don’t get the chance to go camping and enjoy family time in nature,” said Jae Fraser , founder of Little Scholars.
“We wanted to recreate the camping experience for families and children to allow them to make special memories without all the work.

“Children can learn so much from special days such as Camp Out. It offers an excellent teaching moment for parents to share with their children, such as how to assess and mitigate risk, to enjoy the great outdoors and appreciate the beauty of simplicity," he added.
Five years of service
Celebrating our dedicated educators! ?? Later this year, we'll mark a decade of serving South East Queensland! We're so proud to continue to educate the littlest members of our community, and in turn supporting their families, and we have our educators to thank for keeping Little Scholars going year after year! Recently, Jae Fraser and our operations team, Melanie Excell, Skye Ible, and Sasha Woodgate-Wheeler, recognised the five years and counting commitments of our dedicated educators who have been an integral part of Little Scholars.
Maria and Kavita were honoured with their five-year awards, each receiving a beautiful glass trophy and a gold bracelet as tokens of appreciation for their service to Little Scholars.
They're certainly not the only ones though, and we have thanked all our educators individually who've educated our little scholars through the years, seeing many of them start as small babies, proudly watching them grow and learn all the way to their next steps to prep! These exceptional educators have set a remarkable standard of excellence in our community through their passion for early childhood education.
Easter 2024
As usual, Easter is one of our little scholars' favourite celebrations, and this year is no different! Check out the littlest scholars really getting into an Easter-themed sensory tray! ??
Did you know?
According to research by the RCH NATIONAL Child Health Poll 2023, while most parents polled (94%) recognise play is important for a child’s health, including physical wellbeing and brain development, a third (32%) of parents do not think it is good for play to involve risk. We wholeheartedly disagree! When assessed thoughtfully and carefully, adventurous play offers opportunities for children to develop and enhance their motor skills, coordination, balance, and strength. These physical skills are essential for overall physical development and can contribute to improved physical fitness.
Furthermore, adventurous play provides children with opportunities to explore their environment, take risks, and challenge themselves. This type of play promotes creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as children navigate and overcome obstacles. It also fosters a sense of adventure, independence, and self-confidence. We have a whole blog on risky play, check it out!
That's it until April, we'll see you next month!
