A Note from Rakai Counsellors' Association (RACA)
Rakai occasionally gets an influx of refugees together with their animals, which makes the district exposed to the spread of diseases and struggle for livelihood. Clean and safe water is a whole family concern in Nsozibbiri village of Rakai district. Finding water is a daily challenge for young girls, moms and sons due to the limited coverage of piped water i.e. long distances to water sources. Residents of Nsozibbiri approximately walk 20kms to reach the nearby water source. The long distance mostly affects children and women since are the ones responsible for domestic chores. Children lose time for school as they have to fetch water first before they go to school. National housing and population census 2014 Indicates that only 34% have access to clean and safe water in Uganda. This is mainly attributed to the fact that human beings compete with animals such as cows to get water from the ponds. By drilling a new borehole well in Nsozibbiri village, RACA will be able to provide clean, safe drinking water to over 400 households. Thank you for choosing to give water and give life to Uganda.
