Nursing Home Vaccinations Mandatory or lose funding.

I just read the Presidents message regarding mandatory vaccinations for all nursing home staff members or lose our Medicare and Medicaid funding. It strikes me as discriminatory.

Why is the government singling out nursing homes? Other healthcare providers seem to be exempt from this requirement. What's good for one health care group is good for all.

What are our industry associations doing to help us?

We have a difficult time recruiting staff as it is, if employees refuse to be vaccinated,

they will be terminated leaving a bigger hole in our working schedules. The

President is short-sighted by requiring nursing home employees to be

vaccinated, he should require all citizens to be vaccinated to stop this virus.

He is only singling out nursing homes because we receive federal funds.? Imagine what this virus would do without the

courage and commitment of our staff in providing resident care, knowing full

well that they have the potential to get the virus but they come to work just

the same,

We risk our lives every day protecting patients and

staff from this virus, bearing unbudgeted expenses for PPE, test kits,

monitoring visitors, whom we can't ask if they are vaccinated. " let's the

unvaccinated" enter our facilities spreading the virus right next to our

vaccinated staff and patients. Why does the general public have more rights

than my staff and patients? Probably it has something to do with votes.

I guess the politicians are more interested in making

headlines than stopping the killing fields of COVID, and nursing homes are a

safe and easy target.

Everyone must be vaccinated!
