Nursing Care, With Heart

Nursing Care, With Heart

Today, nursing excellence in many nursing units - and even entire hospitals - is being challenged.?

This challenge necessitates a “back to the basics” approach toward delivering great nursing care.

What? A bundle of evidence based nursing practices (. . . not “extra work,” but how we do our work)

  • Safe Handoffs
  • Teach Back
  • Post Visit Calls
  • Purposeful (Hourly) Rounding
  • Provider/Nurse Rounds
  • Whiteboards
  • Narrating

How? Competently, consistently, and compassionately (. . . with purpose and heart!)

Why? Patients benefit when nursing care is excellent, not just from one specific nurse, but consistently by all of them. When nursing care excels, those nurses working on the team experience a heightened sense of pride, joy, and fulfillment in their work.

Who champions this? An empowered and supported staff-driven nursing council (. . . “do it WITH them, not TO them”)

Be inspired to “just start” with this 2-minute video.

Sincerely,?

Sue
