ELEX Conference 2024

Dr. Gwendolyn Oglesby-Odom is an accomplished healthcare executive with nearly 30 years of extensive healthcare operations experience in acute and post-acute care settings. Her expertise includes strategy development, building and sustaining internal and external engagement, and healthcare operations. She has a proven track record for successfully combining her strategy acumen with her operational and clinical expertise to facilitate healthcare turnarounds and startups. Dr. Oglesby-Odom's executive leadership experience spans senior roles in healthcare systems, payors, and community and service organizations.

Most recently, Dr. Oglesby-Odom assumed the role of Enterprise Vice President of Community Engagement for Advocate Health, where she serves as the senior executive liaison between the community and Advocate Health's 67 hospitals and over 1,200 outpatient facilities in IL, WI, NC, SC, GA, and AL. She is the strategic thought leader who develops programs that maximize relationships and support the organization's mission. Previously, Dr. Oglesby-Odom was the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Advocate Health's Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Before joining Advocate Health, Dr. Oglesby-Odom served as a Senior Healthcare Consultant for Strategic Healthcare Transformations, where she provided consultative services to healthcare organizations aimed at turning around failing divisions. Dr. Gwendolyn Oglesby-Odom also launched two startup entities, NavCare, a national Chronic Care Management and Transitional Care Management organization, and Peak Home Health, securing talent and business contracts, building organization structure, operational policies and procedures, and obtaining accreditation.

Dr. Oglesby-Odom is passionate about developing future leaders via mentorship, fostering health equity, and increasing diversity in healthcare leadership and on healthcare boards. She serves as the board chair for Children's Advocate for Change, a non-profit advocacy organization committed to the overall well-being of every child in Illinois by championing policies that invest in all the social determinants of health needed for the children of Illinois to thrive.

Dr. Oglesby-Odom is a charismatic, pragmatic, and inclusive leader. She believes her work in the healthcare industry reflects her passion for humanity. She was recently recognized by the Chicago Chapter of the American College of Health Care Executives for her innovative work with the South Side Healthy Community Organization, AWBC Magazine's Health Equity Egertha Award, and the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders for her dedication to mentorship.
