Nurses Play an Indispensable Role in Every Area of Healthcare

Every nurse has a personal story, with their own inspiration for entering the profession. Take Molly Pratt, for example — a new nursing graduate of Saginaw Valley State University. Diagnosed with cancer at age 16, Molly formed a close bond with the oncology nurses at Beaumont Health in Michigan, and they inspired her to pursue a career in nursing.?

The fact that Molly’s care experience was so defined by nurses isn’t unusual. Nurses are there during the hardest, most challenging times in many patients’ lives. They play a critical role in providing care, educating patients and families, and working alongside physicians and other clinicians.??

Molly’s story is about to come full circle as she begins her own career as a nurse at the same health system that cared for her, with aspirations to work in oncology nursing as well.?Molly’s journey, which you can watch here , is just one of the stories featured on the TODAY show as part of the Heroes Among Us series.
