Here is an interesting article....nurses are burning out!
Gone are the days when nursing was bedside care, caring for families, communicating, and holding someone's hand while they vented or were "passing away".
Nurses no longer have time. Nurses are expected to due numerous other tasks during their shift that are totally unrelated to their care-giving.
Charting is critical these days, and if it wasn't charted it didn't happen. So more time is consumed behind the computer/or desk charting in patient charts to keep from a law suite in the future! I love my nursing career when its patient interaction and skills but can definitely admit to not being a paper person.
