Be the Number Two!!

Yeah, I know you must be thinking...WHAT!!! What is this?? has he gone insane?? Everyone wants to be at the summit...zenith...apex. who would want to be the second best guy? It might sound crazy, but it is great to be Number Two!!!

The simple answer is "The Second guy tries harder". Puzzled! No need to be!

Competition is a natural phenomenon in life. Many enjoy it, many hate it, many succumb to it. But at the end of the day, it does matter. Those who are exemplary...outlandishly over performing....they will do fine without this article. But for others, it's a way to success. As we all hear that everyone wants to be at the top. But sometimes we feel that we are not capable of it so we drop all our will to fight. For those, try to reach at the Number Two position. Just see it with this perspective that either it's Number One or Rest i.e. anything other than number one is same. Now if you fall in the category of Rest....then why not Number two (which is the Top among the Rest).

Being the Number two will bring out your efficiency, will push you a little bit more, will make you things do more than your capacity. In a race, whether MotoGP or F1, always watch the top two racers. The Number One is always under the pressure because the number two is at its tail. The number two racer finishes at a lap time some micro-seconds late than the winner, but far better than its time during practice. Not only that, in school or college exams, the second topper puts in more efforts to top next time. In business, the company with Second best market shares goes all out to beat the leader. Just like samsung overthrew nokia in Indian market share and now Micromax in behind samsung. Even in a movie, there is a dialogue "Second Best pe try karo...hamesa pat jayegi"....Just For Fun!!

No offence to the leaders/toppers but the Second Best person develops the traits or qualities to become a topper. It's just a phase where one nurtures itself to be great. I have always been the number two in my school life but in 12th Board, I topped in my school. In my engineering also, I was second topper in almost all semesters(SGPAs), the toppers changed, but i was the branch topper as per CGPA.

So the Second Best position brings in efficiency, consistency, more capability, thinking and yes "next to the best". Use this to grow. And Hey! Sometimes even the best is scared of you.

Believe me, It's a wonderful position!!
