The number of 5G users in South Korea has exceeded one million

At the beginning of this month, the ministry of industry and information technology officially issued 5G commercial licenses to China telecom, China mobile, China Unicom and China radio and television, which also means that China has officially entered the first year of 5G commercial. In South Korea, 69 days after the launch of 5G service, the number of 5G users has exceeded 1 million, and the speed of popularization is faster than that of 4G in that year.

South Korea's ministry of science and technology said the number of 5G users in the country passed 1 million on June 10, and the country officially launched 5G commercial services on April 3. That means the average number of new users per day is around 17,000, which is a rapid growth rate.

SK Telecom has 40 percent of South Korea's 5G market, while KT and LG Uplus each have about 30 percent, according to the data. That's faster than when 4G services were introduced in South Korea in 2011. It is worth mentioning that South Korea has only rolled out 5G service in a limited area, so it is very impressive at the current speed of popularization.

Of course, the total number of 5G users in South Korea is expected to reach 4-5 million by the end of this year. Outside of South Korea, carriers in other countries, such as Verizon, AT&T and Sprint, do not disclose the number of their 5G subscribers. At the end of May, the UK launched its first 5G commercial network service in six cities, becoming the third country in the world after South Korea.

We all know that China has officially issued 5G license at the beginning of this month. What will be the penetration rate of 5G in China? It is worth waiting for.
