Number 1 Pinterest Decor Trend of the Year - Yellow

Well, the crowd has spoken. The number one decor search on Pinterest last year was yellow and I couldn’t be more thrilled! It doesn’t seem that long ago that pale, butter yellow was our go to color for interior walls. That was at some point replaced with warmer beige neutrals and ultimately straight up white. So I am very happy to see a little sunshine stream back into our lives.

While I am not yet at the point of yellow rooms, yellow has been a great accent color for us for some time now. Look at the room pictured above the bright yellow sofas, transform the room into a bright sunny retreat, and stop what would otherwise be a fairly basic space from being boring and humdrum. Note too that the pillows pull in the yellow accent with some deep grey ( a classic combo from the early 80’s that I think is on it’s way back).

So how do you introduce yellow into your home? Well the good thing is there is a shade of yellow that works with almost any palette. So if you have a very neutral home you can either do a very light yellow for a soft, almost zen feel or a bright saffron yellow for a more modern perky look.

I really enjoy the stronger shades of yellow and think that it works well with every from blacks and greys, to reds and even orange, don’t be afraid and experiment you may be surprised how a little yellow acan change your room.
