Equipping researchers to create spin-outs, IP licenses and social enterprises
The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC) works with companies to overcome their manufacturing problems, reduce risk, and develop the technical capability to compete on cost, quality and delivery. It exists to help UK manufacturers innovate and win work in civil nuclear.
The Nuclear AMRC offers world-leading resources and expertise in large-scale high-precision machining, fabrication and assembly. The research factory is home to over £30 million worth of state-of-the-art equipment selected to meet the requirements of the civil nuclear sector, but also relevant across the energy sector and in other high-value industries.
The open-plan 5,000 sq. m workshop is designed for working on production-scale technology demonstrators and many resources are the largest or most advanced of their kind available in a research centre anywhere in the world. Located on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in South Yorkshire, the Nuclear AMRC is open to all UK manufacturers and available for industry-led research and development.
The Nuclear AMRC can collaborate on specific R&D projects, using its expertise and facilities to help resolve manufacturing problems and deliver you real competitive advantage. Innovation capabilities span the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) scale, with a focus on MRL3–6. This means the Nuclear AMRC can take new manufacturing technologies and processes from proof of concept through to production readiness.
