Alaska Stationair Accident Report Released

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) published its final report on April 4, 2024, for the Cessna U206F accident in Chinitna Bay, Alaska, on August 28, 2023, attributing the cause to the pilot's failure to maintain directional control during takeoff on a remote beach. The report details how the aircraft, registered under N1733R and operated by Alaska Skyways Inc., encountered difficulties on its second takeoff attempt when its right wheel hit the water, leading to substantial damage to the right wing. No pre-accident mechanical failures were found, with environmental conditions like soft sand and a wet surface playing a significant role in the accident outcome, according to the NTSB's findings. BEA Releases Final Report on Bordeaux Runway Incident

On December 31st, 2022, an Easyjet Europe Airbus A320, registration OE-INE, was erroneously cleared to land on an occupied runway at Bordeaux Airport, France, but safely aborted the landing following a proactive alert from another pilot. The French Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) identified key factors contributing to the incident in their final report released on April 5th, 2024: understaffing, poor visibility, and insufficient supervisory practices. Q&A #6: SARPcheck safety audit, global wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

Question:

Which entities are providing the SARPcheck audits?

Answer:

At present there are three audit firs, so called SQOs (Safety Quality Organizations) which are accredited by the not-for-profit governance organization SARP LTD. to conduct audits under the SARPcheck program: AEROTHRIVE , Lufthansa Group Quality Services and WAKE (QA) LIMITED . They are deeply involved in the program and can be directly contacted for further information.

In this series I am answering some of the many questions I am asked following the recent release of this new program, which boosts both safety levels and airline businesses by enabling wet leases, codeshares, charters and ACMI. Send me your questions or find more information on www.SARP.org!
