NTPC Renewable Energy Wins 1,000 MW in UPPCL’s Solar Project Auction;CO2 Baseline Database Highlights India’s Progress In Renewable Energy and More...

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a fully owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has successfully won 1,000 MW in Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited’s (UPPCL) Solar PV Power Project auction. The e-reverse auction, conducted on 3rd January 2025, was part of a tender for the selection of solar power developers to set up 2,000 MW of ISTS-connected solar PV power projects under tariff-based competitive bidding.


The Central Electricity Authority’s CO2 Baseline Database highlights India’s efforts to balance energy needs with environmental sustainability. For the fiscal year 2023-24, the total installed capacity of power generation reached approximately 442 GW, with renewable energy sources (RES) contributing significantly. Wind, solar, and other renewable forms accounted for a substantial share, reflecting India’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has implemented several amendments to its Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) regulations. These amendments, titled the “Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024,” aim to enhance grid discipline and ensure the stability of the power system in light of the rising penetration of renewable energy sources.


Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh. The park, with a capacity of 600 MW, is recognized as the largest floating solar park in India and marks a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy development.
