About the Fund

NSFC Excellent Young Scholars Fund (Overseas) is aimed at attracting and encouraging outstanding young overseas scholars (including non-Chinese foreign talents) who have achieved good accomplishments in natural science and engineering technology, etc. to return (come) and work in China and choose research directions independently and carry out innovative research.

After the approval of the fund, both NSFC and the supporting institution will provide research funds and highly competitive remuneration packages and relevant supporting resources including house subsidy, employment of spouse, children's education, medical insurance, etc.

Requirement for Applicants from NSFC

(1) abide by the laws of the people’s republic of china and have good scientific ethics.

(2) born on or after January 1, 1983.

(3) have a Ph.D. degree.

(4) the main research interests are natural science, engineering technology, etc.

(5) have more than 36 months of working experience at oversea universities or academic research institutions before March 15, 2023. For those who have obtained a Ph.D. degree overseas and have outstanding research records, the limitation of work experience can be relaxed.

(6) have a strong research record and the potential of becoming an academic leader.

(7) the applicant should have not yet returned to China full-time or returned to China after January 1, 2022. If the fund is approved, the recipient must work full-time for at least 3 years.
