Our company news

In August, Larry Coben was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NRG after serving as Interim CEO since November 2023. He will continue to serve as Chair of the NRG Board of Directors, a role he has held since 2017.

On September 25, NRG officially increased its 2024 guidance for Adjusted EBITDA and Free Cash Flow before Growth (FCFbG), reflecting the company’s robust financial and operational execution throughout the year.

NRG was selected to move to the next phase of the Texas Energy Fund loan approval process for the previously announced 415MW (TH Wharton) of new quick-start natural gas power generation in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Insights from our leaders

Head of Administration, Gin Kinney recently reflected on the importance of giving back and how NRG’s philanthropic arm, positiveNRG, has created a culture of caring and responsibility at our company.

Paolo Berard, NRG’s Chief Compliance Officer and Assistant General Counsel was recently recognized as a member of The Wall Street Journal CCO Council . He will be joining other leading compliance experts to collaborate and inspire change.

In September, NRG’s Director of Origination and Environmental Products, Bernie Kinsella, kicked off “The Flight to Quality – Carbon Offsets” series, taking a closer look at the 10 Core Carbon Principles to determine quality.

Recognition for our business

?The NRG Strategic and Customer Experience team took home three U.S. Customer Experience Awards, which honor and celebrate exceptional customer service initiatives, and play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing global standards. Learn more about their awards.

Houston Chronicle’s 2024 “Best of the Best” list was announced with Reliant winning Houston’s Best Electricity Company, Vivint receiving Best Home Security System Provider, and Green Mountain Energy awarded the Best Solar Power/Generator.?

Our sustainability journey

NRG Chief Sustainability Officer, Lynda Clemmons reflected on our company’s 2023 sustainability efforts, including progress toward our emissions targets, and also provided her vision for a more sustainable future.

Our 2023 Sustainability Report highlighted another year of outstanding progress, including the advancement of our strategic priorities, the expansion of our sustainability initiatives, and our dedication to our employees, partners, and communities.

Highlighting our culture

Brian Curci, NRG’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel was featured in our Culture in Focus series . There, he highlighted the importance of team-oriented leadership, and how collaboration and effective communication can drive innovation and employee development.

On National Hire a Veteran Day, we released a new video celebrating our veteran teammates and all they have accomplished in their NRG careers.

Giving back to our communities

For 17 years, NRG has been dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities during positiveNRG Impact Week . This year, our goal was to pack one million meals to help fight hunger, a goal we’re happy to share was reached thanks to the hard work of the NRG team.

In July, we provided support to Houston-area food banks and nonprofits to assist our neighbors who were impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Our donations helped ensure those in need had access to vital resources during this crucial time.

Our family of brands

Reliant welcomed Texas Children’s Hospital to its “Choose to Give” program , allowing customers to support lifesaving pediatric cancer research, treatment, and services through their energy bills.

Reliant partnered with Texas A&M Mays Business School to improve the student experience by providing enhanced learning tools and real-world opportunities. With a focus on student success, Reliant is committed to shaping the next generation of leaders.
