NRC Employee Story: Matthew Poupitch

Tell us your New Resources Consulting story.

I graduated from Marquette University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in IT and Finance. I wanted to optimize my education, and NRC provided the perfect launch pad with its Associate program. The program offered an ideal transition from the classroom to a career in the ERP space, because I was mentored in a small group. Upon completion of the program, I stayed on as a consultant to apply the strategies I learned. Eight years later, I have upgraded and implemented PeopleSoft and worked on our Managed Services team.

What work/project are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the work I did implementing PeopleSoft for the Wisconsin State agencies. I was the Lead Consultant for the Purchasing, eProcurement, and Inventory modules. The project team implemented nearly all SCM, Financials, and HCM modules over approximately 2 years. I continued to support the client after the go-live date, which allowed me to enhance the business process via upgrades and customizations to meet client specifications. This project is now a great success story for ERP implementations.

What’s different about New Resources Consulting from other companies?

I have worked with NRC my entire career, 8+ years, and that is due to how well they treat their consultants. I have never been on the bench; the work I do has been challenging and rewarding; and my colleagues are top-notch, personable, intelligent, and hard-working. Our leadership has ensured I find growth and opportunity within this organization as well. I see myself being here for many years to come.

What qualities do people need to be successful at NRC?

An interest in technology and providing solutions through technology to clients. An openness to participating in a fluid and growing organization. Being outspoken, ambitious, and willing to learn new technologies.

Any advice for someone who is considering working at NRC?

Communication is key. If you want to learn something new or have ideas that can add value to an organization, let leadership know. They want to provide opportunities to their employees so that we all grow as individuals and as an organization.

How has NRC supported your career development?

They placed me on an ERP project as a Module Lead early in my career and supported me during my time on the project. They have provided work/life balance as my family has grown. They have assigned me to projects that were challenging and gave me the opportunity to grow.

Outside of work what can you be found doing?

Spending time with my wife, daughter, and energetic dog; staying active through biking, running, and trying new sports; and supporting the Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball team.

What is your “unique?”

I love trying new things, and I spent 2 years studying Brazilian jujitsu.
