NOx Populi: Sealing Solutions for Fertilizer Plants

In a recent project with a prominent fertilizer factory, our gasket product played a crucial role in sealing hazardous NOx (Nitrous Oxide) gases. This partnership not only showcased the effectiveness of our solution but also underscored the importance of proper sealing in industrial environments.
NOx gases, notorious for their harmful impact on both human health and the environment, pose significant risks when not properly contained. Effective sealing is essential to prevent these gases from escaping into the atmosphere, thereby protecting workers and the surrounding community from exposure to these dangerous emissions.
This fertilizer unit manufactures Nitrogen based Fertilizers and requires Nitric Acid production from Ammonia synthesis.
There are a variety of areas within a nitric acid production unit that can negatively affect sealing materials. The Sealing material is subject to extreme temperatures, thermal cycling and highly oxidising catalysts. This leads to frequent gasket failure and leaks, ultimately costing your plant money for unplanned shutdowns and costly maintenance operations. Any operational or production output in Nitric Acid unit will result in severe bottlenecks in the entire Fertilizer production value chain.
Temperatures can reach up to 900 Deg C and 200 Bar in these environments and careful design, installation and support have to be provided for these critical Seals.
PGE did extensive discussions with the Maintenance team during this shutdown to redesign the Gasket and offer a more concrete long term solution. The Equipment is more than 20yrs old but extremely critical for the overall functioning of the factory.
Our innovative gasket product, PGE SealPro was instrumental in this project. The Designed Gasket was capable in withstand extreme conditions and ensure a tight seal. PGE SealPro provided the necessary reliability and durability especially with our superior Filler Material for 1000 Deg C.
The Maintenance team allowed us to deviated from earlier OEM design and trusted PGE for offering a suitable option for a critical process equipment and highly corrosive service. This would not have been possible without the trust of the the team who allowed us to customize and implement this solution, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.
Best feedback: Post 6 months of startup activity, the Maintenance Head called us beaming with pride. He was applauded by the Vice President during their meeting. In the past 20 yrs, this equipment has never operated leak free and now with the approved new changes, this old war horse had delivered higher outputs delivering higher gains throughout the production chain and most importantly, working leak free.
Through this successful collaboration and trust, we demonstrated not only the superior quality of our product but also our commitment to creating safer industrial environments. Together, we have taken a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier future.
