NowCast in Gargett
#NowCast in Gargett?
Gargett has been impacted by the recent flooding in north Queensland with a peak of Cattle Creek hitting 62.1m AHD (5.6m deep from the base of the creek) on the evening of 16 January, the largest event since 2008.??
FloodMapp’s NowCast provides real-time flood impact extent and depths to emergency management staff to support operational decision making during a flood event. Knowing the extent of isolated communities due to road closures, and timing swift recovery actions (such as bridge debris removal and structural inspections) is key operational intelligence. ?
Image one shows the Mattie O'Neill Bridge during the peak of the event, covering the bridge deck at a height of approximately 0.5m.??
Image two shows the hydrograph of the rise and fall of floodwaters at the bridge from 15 – 16 January, as recorded at the Mattie O'Neill gauge. Floodwater reached a peak level of 62.1m AHD.??
?Image three shows FloodMapp’s NowCast product mapping the flood from 15 – 16 January, validating the peak flood level.?
