Now what? - Workplace Adaptation During and Post Pandemic

Nearly two months ago, Utahns had to quickly make severe changes to their work and personal lives in response to the pandemic. Those with jobs that could be performed remotely have probably adapted and found a good routine. However, it is wise not to get too comfortable as everyday life will be uncertain for a while.

Friday, May 1, Utah Governor Herbert loosened pandemic restrictions transitioning Utah’s COVID-19 risk scale to orange. Meaning the general public has a moderate risk of contracting the virus instead of high-risk (red). This also means a soft opening of Utah’s economy has commenced with non-essential workers returning to on-site jobs with precautions and new requirements.

What does this mean for those working in offices? What will that workspace look like, and how will it perform? We know it won’t be as it was prior to the pandemic and will probably go through a few evolutions before landing on something long-term.

I am lucky enough to work with Kate North, vice president of workplace strategy with Colliers International, who has spent her career focusing on the future of work. She took some time with me to lend insight on unknowns swirling around the future of traditional office space.

I look forward to following up with Kate as things evolve and would love to incorporate any viewer questions in our next video chat.
