Things didn’t turn out as planned. All summer, I prepped for a mega blowout launch. Imagine this: a 25,000-word document, packed with maybe 14 emails to support my efforts. My social media copy? Thousands upon thousands more words. My thoughts were fully thought-out, and my brain felt wrung out by the time the results came in. And the results? No shows. Wrong shows. Zero sales.
If I were new to this, I would have cried. Instead, I took a poll. I asked my sons: "What do you know about failure?" I told them, "Mommy just experienced one."
My tween said, "I don’t know." Mr. Squirrel 1 (who just got cast as an extra in the school play, Willy Wonka) said, "Try again, but do things differently." Mr. Squirrel 2 (Twin B, who got the same part) said, "Apply the same thinking that works for rental properties." I unpacked his thinking to mean: create a membership model for your business.
The point isn’t their insights. It’s this: when you experience failure, don’t just sit there licking your wounds. Instead, enlist help from those with an outside perspective and don’t be afraid to get unconventional. Chances are, conventional thinking is what got you stuck or lost in the first place. Lost, like a squirrel playing an extra in a Willy Wonka play (and I never saw a squirrel in the first Willy Wonka movie).
So, here’s your chance. Take this moment like you’ve just found a golden ticket.
If you’re a working woman (mom or not) and feeling like many of us are—unsure about the next steps in your career or business—perhaps because you experienced a s&it show worthy set of results (all real entrepreneurs have been there, right?) then I want to invite you to join me this Friday for a 30-minute moment of rest and reflection.
What can you expect? We’ll begin with a 10-minute mindfulness and rest session, allowing you to breathe and step away from the noise. Afterward, I’ll guide us through a reading of The Road Not Taken, followed by 15 minutes of contemplation on your best next step. It’s not just about reading a poem; it’s about reflecting together in a supportive space. There’s something powerful about not going through this process alone. In isolation, we tend to feel stuck, and chances are, whichever road you choose will require a guide.
Who this is for: All women at a crossroads in their careers or businesses.
