Now We Must Be Up and Doing
My daughter was born with a serious medical condition that we have managed all of her life. Though she suffered a stroke last year, she boldly graduated college this summer. In the midst of national mayhem, a global pandemic, and challenging health concerns, she has felt overwhelmed and a bit helpless as she moves into adulthood in these perilous times. Perhaps we are all feeling a bit overwhelmed right now.
Since my wisdom and advice often comes from movie quotes, rock songs, and poems (Scripture is helpful as well, but sometimes the message is received better when couched in the aforementioned), I instantly thought of this wonderful classic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. So, my friends, take courage, stay strong, get out there and be a hero in the fight. For now, we must be up and doing.
