It is now time to explore business opportunities in North Korea (DPRK): trade mission 14-20 May 2017
The well-known American investor Jim Rogers says: “ I'm very excited about North Korea. If I could put all of my money into North Korea, I would. Massive changes are taking place there” (CNN Money).
It is now the time to explore business opportunities with North Korea (also known as DPRK, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea). North Korean state media reports suggest that the economic development strategy of 2017 will be more heavily focused on expanding light industry and agriculture. This offers business opportunities for foreign companies.
In recent years, the North Korean economy did show growth, due to several pragmatic policies. There is a growth in the number of special economic zones in order to attract foreign investors. Economic changes are visible, and for example the number of building activities is increasing fast in Pyongyang.
North Korea finds itself at a new era of international economic cooperation, and it especially welcomes business with Europe. It is now an interesting time to take a closer look at trade and investment related issues, especially since doing business with North Korea is now less complicated than it was in the past. There are several sectors, including renewable energy, garments, shipbuilding, agro business, fishing, horticulture, logistics, tourism, Information Technology, animation and computer games, that can be considered for trade and investment. North Korea is competing with other Asian countries by offering skilled labor at low monthly wages. In particular firms with production facilities in China, where the costs have been rising fast, are investigating alternative options in North Korea.
Are you interested in exploring new business opportunities and in meeting potential Korean partners? We will organize a mission to Pyongyang, which will take place from 14 - 20 May 2017. The program of our trade mission includes individual matchmaking, company and factory visits, dinners and meetings with European business people who are working and living in North Korea. We will also receive information about investment opportunities in a number of sectors, and several projects will be offered.
