NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL GEEKMAS 22

It's Christmas and it's time to present our Geeky Greatest Hits of Christmas.

Find out who's made the list this year, who's dropped out and what our brand-new category/tier is! And there's been plenty of changes.

The Drop Outs!

When a new list drops there's always a bit of pruning that's needed. This year we have jettisoned 2 classics, 2 novelty hits and 2 more modern efforts, not because there's anything wrong with them, after all, nothing quite says Christmas like Nat King Cole, a donkey and a hippopotamus; but because this year we felt the list needed padding with a bit more weight, a bit more gravitas from big hitters like Bob Dylan, John Lennon & Whitney Houston!

?So, reluctantly, out go:

Lou Monte - Dominick The Donkey; Gayla Peevey - I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas; Sia - Santa's Coming For Us; Leona Lewis - One More Sleep; Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song and Feliz Navidad - José Feliciano

New on the List!

Straight into the top tier and joining the Queen of Christmas, Mariah is Happy Xmas (War is Over) from John & Yoko - a perennial favourite perhaps elevated this year as our thoughts turn to war in Ukraine. With a little less geo-political referencing, Frankie Goes To Hollywood teaches us "The Power of Love" & Whitney Houston brings us back to something a bit more traditional with, "Do You Hear What I Hear?". Both hits fill out our Delicious 80's Favourites Tier, joining the Pogues and Wham! Is it even Christmas without a Fairytale of New York and Last Christmas?

Just below these absolute bangers (Pigs in Blankets), we have our Stocking Fillers Tier and it's all changed this year,?as we merge the old and the new, heavyweight legends with newcomers and singer-songwriters at different ends of their careers. First on the list is Bob Dylan with the perennial school choir favourite "Must Be Santa". Fellow entertainment heavyweight, Bing Crosby adds his lesser-known Christmas hit, "Mele Kalikimaka" to the list. It's long been the thing to say in the Secret Geek household but given extra relevance this year with its use in the advert for Sky Cinema. Rounding out this tier is Rhys Lewis with "This Time of Year". Perhaps the least-known hit on the list but a song that is nevertheless redolent of a boozy family Christmas and one that successfully taps into that peculiar melancholic nostalgia that keeps us coming back to the same Christmas tunes year after year. If you haven't heard it - add it to your playlist before the big day.

Perrenial Favourites

These are the Christmas tunes we just can't do without and consequently make it onto the list again this year. You can check out the full list below but we must draw your attention to (and who doesn't want to see them), our Baubles of Brilliance!

Elvis - "Blue Christmas" might make many lists, it might even be the star on top of your tree, but Joe Longthorne - "Christmas Time is Here" is more like your guilty little secret, that little trinket made by the kids out of scraps of cardboard that makes it onto the tree every year despite not fitting in with Mum's colour scheme. It may be hidden at the back of the tree but we love it nonetheless.

And finally, there's Deano!

There will always be room for Dean Martin on our Geekmas Top Christmas Hits Tiers, as long as Secret Geek continues to hear that unmistakable call to the season "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!"??there will always be the King of Cool, no matter what Bublé has to say!

And there you have it. The Tiers are in full below. Of course non of this makes any sense unless you let us know your thoughts. Which Christmas tunes make the list in your house?
