Now Taking Reservations For A Special Place In Hell...

History teaches us that in every human or economic crisis or 'black swan' event that mankind has ever faced, there are people who always emerge and act in wonderful, spirit lifting ways, while others make their presence known in amazingly bad ways.

In the last 90++ days, we have again seen people in both groups, those who have 'done things for' others and those who have 'done things to' others.

I believe, that there are just rewards waiting for both.

In the "did things for" category are people like: doctors, nurses, hospital and EMT employees, our civil servants in law enforcement, the millions of unseen truck drivers, service workers, manufacturing and distribution employees, food bank volunteers, farmers, mail carriers, grocery and big box employees, people serving congregations, research scientists and laboratory testing specialists, nursing home attendants, grief counselors, technology providers, the millions of people who have to work whether they feel safe or not, and so many, many more who, while mostly unseen and unnamed have served with great dignity and passion and in full support of their fellow human beings.

If I left anyone out of this fine group, please feel free to add them with all due great praise.

For all of you, I pray that you and your loved ones will be 'greatly blessed' although I suspect that almost none of you did everything you did with any expectations at all other than of having the personal satisfaction of knowing that you just did what you always have done; your jobs.

In the "did things to" category are: people who have engaged in any and all forms of physical, mental, child, sexual, domestic or animal abuse by taking advantage of victims who were literally trapped in their homes and at their most vulnerable; victims whose only choices were to face a known danger inside or face an unknown danger outside, the drug dealers who preyed on addicts and those who desperately needed help but who, again, were disconnected from their normal sources of support and counseling, the 'slip and fall' lawyers who are already advertising a new virus-themed message of blame and liability while absolutely guaranteeing that they will stick it to somebody, anybody on your behalf, the people who stole money or checks or packages or anything else from others in need, the price gougers and arbitragers who ran 1st towards the burning opportunities to make money, to lie and to leverage, hopefully before anyone found out, the politicians and special interest groups and their lobbyists who slowed and delayed much needed recovery and assistance legislation and funding because of their own partisan interests and, generally but specifically, all scammers, hackers, phishers, identity thieves and malcontents of every type.

If I left anyone out of this rogues gallery, please feel free to pile on...

I won't pray that you will be 'greatly anything' for that is work best left to what some call Karma or for the One some call God.

Some say the Gates of Hell have been opened by this pandemic. If that's true, those same Gates are now wide open for a return trip for all the people who: (1) took suffering and increased it, (2) took power and abused it, (3) who chose to step 'up' by stepping 'on' others, (4) who put their consciences far enough away from any mirror so as not to have to look at themselves every morning and who, if it were somehow possible, (5) made this terrible crisis even uglier, more hurtful and more painful than it already was.

There are not enough adjectives and adverbs in this or any language to describe what you are and what you deserve.

To those in the "did things for" category, Godspeed to each and every one of you and your families and we wish you a long life.

To those in the "did things to" category, please proceed directly to Hell, and please do so with all great haste...
