Reaching a Finish Line That's Also a Start of Something New

And now for something (somewhat) completely different…

After almost seven years of enjoying the great privilege and rare opportunity to help senior IT leaders make better, more informed decisions as a Gartner analyst, I’m excited to share that today marks the start of a new professional adventure.

More on that in just a moment, but first a bit of thanks:

  • To Gartner clients who gave me the opportunity to play some part in your success through published research, sometimes fun/sometimes challenging conversations, and always engaging strategy sessions, thank you for that opportunity to help and your trust.
  • To my Gartner colleagues past and present, thank you for your collaboration, generosity, and support throughout – you and your perspective are what enterprise IT leaders around the world need and it was you that fueled the company’s incredible success and growth over the years. I’m honored to call you not just colleagues but friends.
  • To Gartner, thank you for the opportunity to serve the best clients in the world and work with some of the most brilliant people in the world today.

Now…what’s next?

Today I’m thrilled to say I’m going to be helping folks in a different way - I’ve joined GitLab to add to an already great Marketing organization! It’s probably no surprise to say that I’ll be helping out with a variety of efforts aimed to help GitLab (the community and company) achieve even greater success.

If you haven’t heard of or aren’t familiar with GitLab, let me invite you to “git” with it :) . It’s both a fascinating community and company that’s entirely focused on making building, delivering, and running code as absolutely as easy as possible. Importantly, GitLab means it when we say, Everyone Can Contribute. If you just want to use the technology you can. If you want to help build the technology you can. If you want to know how the company functions to an incredible amount of detail, you can check out the company’s handbook online. I could go on, but I won’t right now so you can get back to your coffee. Be sure to check it out if you’re interested.

Lastly, thanks to all of you, my friends for your support along the way and into the future!

Best,

Colin

Colin, best of luck in your next Journey. It was always a pleasure to read your research at Gartner and your willingness to take briefings with small startups and your inclusion of them in your research. You were always a pleasure to work with as an analyst. Cheers!
