Now Is The Time To Save Your Precious Slides

Many of us have heard the famous Simon and Garfunkel song from the 70’s “Kodachrome”. “Kodachrome …They give us those nice bright colors…They give us the greens of summers” were lyrics in the song which described the iconic slide film sold by Kodak for many decades. Kodachrome was a very great stable film that required very extensive developing steps. Later, Kodak invented Ektachrome which was a slide film that required fewer developing stages and was easier for labs and individuals to process. One of the drawbacks of Ektachrome is that it is not as stable as its predecessor and is more prone to fading. I do a lot of slide scanning as well as working on my own family’s slides and usually there is a combination of Kodachrome and Ektachrome among them. In most cases, the Kodachrome slides are in fairly good shape while the Ektachrome slides are fading. The Ektachrome slide from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s is starting to fade fast and before you know it, there won’t be anything there, and a lot of precious memories will be lost. At Lypowy Studio, we can scan and digitize your slides, preserving them for the future. All work is done on promises and we are offering curbside and mail order service during the CoVid crisis.
